Positive Atheism

Positive atheism sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? After all, atheism really is a negative word. It means not having a belief in any gods. But negative isn’t always bad. Other negative words are independent, nondiscrimination, and antidote. Even theists frequently describe their deity in negative terms (infinite, unlimited, infallible). Herb describes differences between positive atheism, negative atheism, and humanism, and effective ways that terminology can help change our culture.
