About the GUUF Meditation Group

The GUUF Meditation Group meets weekly on Sundays at 9:30 AM to share a time of quiet presence and reflection. Our gatherings are open to everyone — whether you are a long-time meditator or simply curious about starting a practice.

We usually meet in the Founders Room, but on the second Sunday of each month the room is used by the Humanist Discussion Group, so we gather instead in the GUUF Garden (weather permitting) or another available room.

Our practice is simple and welcoming:

  • Arrival & Connection — We begin by greeting each other and settling into the space.
  • Chalice Lighting — A brief reading or reflection sets the tone for our time together.
  • Guided Meditation — Often 15 minutes of guided practice to help us center.
  • Silent Sitting — 30–45 minutes of shared stillness, during which participants may focus on the breath, a mantra, or another mindful anchor.
  • Closing — We extinguish the chalice and depart in a spirit of peace.

We believe meditation is one way to meet the moment — to be fully present, cultivate compassion, and bring our UU values to life. Whether you join us once or make it a weekly habit, you are part of our circle.

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.”Henry David Thoreau

All are welcome. Come as you are.

Namaste,

Ward Hammond
