Murphy, Maggie
In Memory of Maggie Murphy
Margaret Grace “Maggie” Murphy, 71, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her beyond words.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Maggie was the daughter of the late Patrick Grace and Josephine Grace. She was a graduate of the University of Memphis and later earned her Master’s degree from Kennesaw State University. She dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work with Prisma Health.
Maggie was a woman of warmth, intelligence, and strength. She loved a good crossword puzzle, a lively game of Mahjong and gathering around the kitchen to cook for the people she loved. Her home was a place of comfort, conversation, and laughter.
Above all else, Maggie was devoted to her family. She shared 26 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Pat Chaney. She was a loving mother to her two sons, Joel Murphy of Atlanta, Georgia, and Andrew Murphy (Erica) of Greer, South Carolina.
Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Nova Murphy. Being Nova’s grandmother was one of the happiest roles of her life. She delighted in every story, every visit, every milestone. She loved Nova with a fullness and tenderness that defined her final years, and that love will continue to surround Nova always.
Maggie is also survived by her sister, Louise Belch (Ronald) of Talladega, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her sons, Charles Bubba Murphy, her brother, Paul Grace, and her sister, Diane Odom.
