lindemann-Simonne

Simonne Hochcajt Lindemann, 87, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021. Born on May 15, 1933, she will be remembered always as a loving and supportive wife, mother, and friend.

Simonne began life in Belgium. After spending her adolescence in France, she immigrated alone at the age of 21 to the United States in 1954. Within a couple of months, she met and quickly fell in love with her future husband, Martin Karl Lindemann. They were married in 1956, and they lived an incredible life full of love and adventure together until his passing in 2019. After starting their family in Somerville, New Jersey, they moved to Greenville, South Carolina, in 1968. She devoted her life to her husband and children. Later, Simonne would return to the workforce at Michelin Americas Research and Development Corporation, where she worked for many happy years. After retiring from Michelin, she went on to take and teach many classes at Furman University as part of its Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) program. Aside from her devotion to her family, Simonne’s passion was quilting. She loved to hand quilt and loved sharing that joy with anyone that wanted to learn.

In 2009, Simonne and Martin moved to the Cascades Verdae where she continued to teach quilting and take as many art classes as she could possibly fit in. She was always going to class, meeting with friends, and enjoying life there with Martin and many visits from her children and grandchildren. In recent years, she also was excited to have connected with cousins from California with whom she quickly developed a close bond filled with love. It was a great loss for her when Martin passed away after 62 years of marriage, but she continued with a cheerful and positive attitude despite her broken heart.

Simonne passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021, after a very short hospital stay. She left this world knowing that she was loved and cared for by her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and by her many friends. Her heart was filled with the love that she had for all of them as well. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin K. Lindemann. She is survived by her sons, Paul B. Lindemann and his wife Kathryn of Greenville, SC; Andrew F. Lindemann and his wife Sabrina of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Abigail E. Lindemann of Huntsville, AL, and Michael K. Lindemann of Charlottesville, VA.

A celebration of her and Martin’s life will be held at a future time. The family would like to thank everyone at the Cascades Verdae and all her friends, near and far, that made her last years so enjoyable.
