As we pass Labor Day, we on your Ministerial Search Committee (MSC) want to let you know how the search process is going. Shortly after your MSC was approved by the Fellowship in May, we began work by attending (virtually) UUA training on ministerial search and transitions, followed by a lot of reading and learning about the work ahead. As we convened, organized, and planned our work, we allocated tasks and held a day-long retreat led by a UUA facilitator. Bibi Harris and Pat Chaney agreed to be our co-chairs. Meet the committee and learn more about each of us. Read our updates on the GUUF website under About>Ministerial Search. https://greenvilleuu.org/ministerial-search/
We have entered a covenant and promise to do our very best to discern our congregation’s strengths and challenges, to understand what you want in a minister, and to authentically present that to potential candidates in order to find the minister who is just right for us. The crucial element in this is your input.
We want YOU! We will ask for your participation at three key points in different ways:
- Congregational Survey – September
- Congregational Cottage Meetings – October
- Beyond Categorical Thinking (BCT) Workshop – November
With each of these, you have the unique opportunity and responsibility to provide your thinking, feeling, and insight into this process to influence our outcome. These are your chances to impact what we seek in our next minister.
In the next few days, the link to the Congregational Survey will be emailed to those who receive our ENews and/or The Spark and the survey will be mailed to those who require regular mail. The link will also be available on the ministerial search page on the website. Please watch for it and complete the survey as soon as you can. Encourage others in the congregation to complete it as well. We will remind everyone a few times, with the absolute deadline to submit it on September 30. We will share the results in October.
As we proceed, from time to time at key points, we will provide updates via ENews, in The Spark, on the GUUF website, and on our official Facebook page. Meanwhile, if you have any questions about the process or what is happening, do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or reach out to any of our members.
