26 May: Popcorn and A Movie: Broadway Melody of 1940

Movie:  Fred Astaire & Eleanor Powell.  This movie is notable for being the only on-screen pairing of Astaire and Powell, who were considered the finest movie musical dancers of their time.  It features music by Cole Porter, including “Begin the Beguine” ( This has the famous dance scene in a black limbo – pretty much done in one long take – WOW! ).  Info here

9 June: Dinner and A Movie:  A Tale of Love and Darkness (2015)

Movie:  The story of Amos Oz’s youth, set against the backdrop of the end of the British Mandate for Palestine and the early years of the State of Israel. The film details the young man’s relationship with his mother and his beginnings as a writer, while looking at what happens when the stories we tell become the stories we live.  This Movie is rated Rated PG-13 for thematic content and some disturbing violent images
