12 May: Dinner and A Movie:  Pirate Radio (2009)

Movie: “The Boat That Rocked” is an ensemble comedy in which the romance takes place between the young people of the ’60s and pop music. It’s about a band of rogue DJs that captivated Britain, playing the music that defined a generation and standing up to a government that wanted classical music, and nothing else, on the airwaves.

• Bring a covered dish to feed 4-6 people.
• Bring your beverage of choice.
• Suggested donation of $5 to cover licensing and other overhead costs.

26 May: Popcorn and A Movie: Broadway Melody of 1940

Movie:  Fred Astaire & Eleanor Powell.  This movie is notable for being the only on-screen pairing of Astaire and Powell, who were considered the finest movie musical dancers of their time.  It features music by Cole Porter, including “Begin the Beguine” ( This has the famous dance scene in a black limbo – pretty much done in one long take – WOW! ).  Info here
