Buildings and Grounds To-Do List

Greetings Fellow members. I am writing to you to tell you of B&G tasks that we have on hand, and to ask you to help us. Most of these things are limited in scope and I pledge to adjust the scope to fit your needs. These items can be especially good for new members due to the limited time requirements and would allow introduction to other GUUFers.

We have designated the Sunday afternoon after the 3rd Wednesday of the month to be the official work day. The last three Wednesday Sunday combinations are Oct. 19-23, Nov. 16 20, Dec. 14 18 (one week early due to Christmas). However, this by no means that in order to take on something, it has to be on this date. Just call me and we’ll work it out. One example is remarking the parking lot with lines. Patrick Davis is working on this on his own time, but I'm sure he would appreciate some help.

  • Cut Drain in concrete at NorthEast corner of WOC and North Exit. Peter Gross has taken the lead on this. We need someone who can cut concrete and has access to the proper tools.
  • We also need another 4 foot square piece cut up to be removed.
  • Erosion under wooden stairs on South side of Sanctuary. Some of the steps will have to be removed and some gravel will have to be placed around the exposed drain pipe.
  • Mark water lines in yard on plat of land. We need to make a map of all the exterior underground piping. We need someone with access to underground pipe detector.
  • Find someone who knows how to use the automatic sprinkler system. There is a sprinkler system in the gardens, but we have none who knows how to work it.
  • Correct missing insulation on AC units. This is a matter of buying the necessary insulation for all the HVAC units we have.
  • Organization of closets. I propose to start with the one in the back of the elevator. This is a longer term task, but can be accomplished in small segments. The first item is to find a place for the stuff in the nook in front of the closet or dispose of it.

If you have any interest in any of these, please contact me.
